Ray Clemence's record of 28 clean sheets (in 42 matches, Old First
Division, 1978-79) was broken by Gillingham's Jim Stannard, who managed 29 clean sheets in
46 matches (Div 3, 1995-96).


Liverpool achieved the League and FA Cup double in the 1985-86
season. The only other teams to achieve the double are: Preston NE (1888-89) Aston Villa
(1896-97) Arsenal (1970-71 and 1997-98) and Man Utd (1993-94, 1995-95 and 1997-98)


Liverpool were the first English club to win three major
competitions in one season, when in 1983-94, Joe Fagan's first season as manager, the Reds
were League Champions, League Cup winners and European Cup winners.


Liverpool went 85 competitive first-team games unbeaten at home
between losing 2-3 to Birmingham City on January 21, 1978 and 1-2 to Leicester on January
31, 1981. They comprised 63 in the League, 9 League Cup, 7 in European competitions and 6
FA Cup.


Liverpool won the League Championship in 1964, the FA Cup in 1965 and the
Championship again in 1966. In 1978 the Reds became the first British club to win the
European Cup in successive seasons.


Liverpool won the League Championship six times in eight seasons (1976-83) under Bob
Paisley's management.


Liverpool have been playing top division football since 1962. Only
two clubs can boast a longer stay: Arsenal (since 1919) and Everton (1954).


Liverpool used only 14 players (five ever-present) when they won
the League Championship in the 1965-66 season.


Liverpool are one of only three clubs to have managed to win the League
Championship in three successive seasons (1982-83-84). The other two
clubs to achieve this League 'hat-trick' are Huddersfield (1924-26) and Arsenal (1933-35).


Kenny Dalglish is one of only three players appearing in and then
managing FA Cup and Championship winning teams. King Kenny was a player in Liverpool's
Championship winning teams in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983 and 1984; player-manager 1986, 1988
and 1990; player-manager when Liverpool won the FA Cup (to complete double) 1986. Dalglish
went on to win the Premiership as manager of Blackburn Rovers in 1995.


Bob Paisley is one of only nine players (including Kenny Dalglish,
see above) to have played in and managed League Championship winning teams. Bob was a
player in the Liverpool team of 1947, and he guided the Reds to the title as manager in
1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982 and 1983.


Liverpool won the Second Division Championship and the League Championship in successive
seasons between 1905 and 1906.


Liverpool is the only city to have staged top-division football -
through Everton and/or Liverpool - in every season since League football began in 1888.


Liverpool hold the record of most points in the (Old) First
Division, with 68 points from 42 matches in the 1978-79 season (based on 2 points for win
system).


Liverpool share the record with Everton for highest number of points
in the (Old) First Division based on a three point system. Everton (1984-85) and Liverpool
(1887-88) both won the Championship with 90 points.
