Did you know that Liverpool hold the best defensive record in the Old First Division? And did you know that Robbie Fowler's 1994 hat-trick against Arsenal is still the fastest in the Premier League?

All this and more in our special pages dedicated to interesting information all genuine Reds fans should know!

Liverpool's 10-0 win over Fulham (2nd Rnd, 1st Leg, Sep 23, 1986) remains the biggest win in the history of the League Cup, together with West Ham's win over Bury (2nd Rnd, 2nd Leg, 1983-840 with the same scoreline.

Liverpool hold the record of highest aggregate score in the League Cup: 13-2 over Fulham (10-0h, 3-2a; Sep 23-Oct 7, 1986) and 11-0 over Exeter City (5-0h, 6-0a; Oct 7-Oct 28, 1981)

Liverpool hold the record of best defensive record in the Old First Division ... just 16 goals were conceded in 42 matches in the 1978-79 season.

Another defensive record dates back to the 1893-94 season. Liverpool conceded just 18 goals (in 28 matches) whilst playing in the Old Division Two.

With 41 goals, Roger Hunt was overall top scorer in the League back in 1961-62, when Liverpool were still in (the Old) Division Two.

Ian Rush scored 5 goals in Liverpool's 6-0 League win over Luton Town on October 29, 1983.

With 44 goals, Ian Rush is the top overall scorer in the FA Cup this century. The goals were scored as follows: 39 for Liverpool, 4 for Chester and 1 for Newcastle. (Harry Cursham still holds the overall record with 48 goals for Notts County between 1880 and 1887).

Ian Rush has also scored the highest number of goals in FA Cup final appearances. His 5 goals (all for Liverpool) were scored as follows: 2 in 1986, 2 in 1989 and 1 in 1992).

Robbie Fowler has scored the fastest hat-trick in the Premier League. Robbie took just 4.5 minutes to blast three goals (26, 29, 31) against Arsenal on Sunday Aug 28, 1994.

Jamie Carragher is one of only two players to have scored two own goals in one match. This unfortunate statistic occurred at home to Man Utd (2-3) in the Premiership, Sep 11, 1999.

Liverpool set a Football League record when EIGHT different players scored in their 9-0 win against Crystal Palace (Div 1, Sep 12 1989). The scorers were: Steve Nicol (7 and 88 mins), Steve McMahon (16), Ian Rush (45), Gary Gillespie (56), Peter Beardsley (61), John Aldridge (67 pen), John Barnes (79) and Glenn Hysen (82).

Fifteen years earlier, Liverpool had gone one better with NINE different scorers when they achieved their record win, 11-0 at home to Stromsgodset (Norway) in the Cup Winners' Cup, 1st Round, 1st Leg on Sep 17, 1974.

John Aldridge scored in 10 consecutive (Old) First Division matches - the last game of the 1986-87 season and the first nine of the 1987-88 season.

Jack Balmer scored three hat-tricks for Liverpool in his career that spanned 17 seasons. The curious thing is that the hat-tricks were scored in successive (Old) First Division matches in November 1946: 3 vs Portsmouth, 4 at Derby and 3 vs Arsenal.

When Robbie Fowler scored 4 goals against Bolton Wanderers on Sep 23, 1995, it was the first time in the Premiership that three hat-tricks were scored in one day. The other hat-tricks were completed by: Tony Yeboah for Leeds at Wimbledon and Alan Shearer for Blackburn against Coventry City.
